Unit Goals

We need you input on the unit goals this year. Your cadet leadership has suggested some broad categories that are required by headquarters.

- a certain pass rate for ROTC
- a number of overnight/total CIA field trips this year
- How many ROTC I students we should retain as ROTC 2 students next year
- How many school organizations/ school projectswe should help with projects this year
- total participation in our food drives
- How many community service activities should we strive for this year?

Give us your ideas some numbers for the above this week...

  1. I really think we should participate in the band competition on Sept. 18th. It would be a great opportunity for some community service hours.
P.S. Everyone remember to mention the Valentine's dance that we are hosting in Feb. Get them excited now so we can have a good turn out later:)

  2. Well for realistic goals....
-We should aim for an overal 92% pass rate
-1 overnight trip is definite but we should definitely include our trips to YOung eagles and maybe plan for some museums or better yet an Air Force base tour.
-We should aim to retain 35% of our students for the next year
-we should aim to assist the band, student council, and national honors society especially since thier volunteer work turnout is low.
-90% participation in our canned food drive
-we should aim for at least 1-2 every month and every semester we need to make an attempt to get over to the middle school
-I think this year as a whole we just need to implement our new ideas for community service along with improving communication among the unit. These are usually the things most other units we compete with focus on.

  3. ~We should aim for a 90% pass rate
    ~1 overnight trip
~I really think we should aim to retain 50%
~We should aim for atleast 6 but offer our help to any organization who is open to it
    ~we should aim for 80%
~we should aim for 8 community service projects
We can also lend a hand to the Elementary School and Primary school when they need a hand i dont think we should be just limited to Edisto High School we need to be out in the community more

  5. > The pass rate for our unit should be about 90% because our unit is small and relatively easy to handle.
    > Maybe we should do an overnight trip for each semester. If we do so, then we should stay close to home and participate in as many inexpensive but influential activities as possible. So if anyone is willing to look into it, feel free to do so!
    > The 1st year cadets that we should retain as 2nd year cadets should be a good amount but only if cadets seem motivated to be upperclassman. So I think we should pay close attention to the class of 2014 cadets before making a numerical decision at this point.
    > Since other organizations in school seem to lack assistanc, we should definately team up with NHS, Student Council, and Fine Arts Department t accomplish community service events, schoolwide activities, and getting Edisto's name known to the public.
    > Our participation should always exceed 70% to maintain our food drive goal
    > Community Service ideas should be tested with mature cadets in small groups. For example, some of us could mentor students at the middle school once a month (take them under our wing and make it count!), some of us could spend a saturday afternoon to read and spend time with children from Palmetto Health Richland's Children's hospital. Not only is this a great experimental opportunity, we could cut down expenses by using only small amounts of people here and there to cover more ground as we accomplish our community service goals.

    Need more clarification??

  10. I think we should go to other school to tell them all that we do. we should go to the middle school to talk to the 8th grader and tell them how much ROTC could be good for them. And we need to go on more trips because we do to much in class lol

  11. SC-20021 Group,

I've got a question, how can we make our school service project the very best ever? Our annual food drive has been expanded to include a spring food drive and that's great. Oh, by the way what's up with our CIA this year?

  15. As far as the food drives are concerned I believe we need more participation from all students, not just the ROTC 2-4s that we have seen in the previous years. I am going to set up a Reid's food drive again this year. I am looking to do one in early October, mid November (before Thanksgiving), mid February, and early March. I currently have paperwork submitted on the October and November drives. Will post a sign up form as soon as apporval is granted. This is your chance, take part in our food drive to get unit participation up.
